I'd argue that the loss of Chester Frazier may have been the real culprit

Yeah, I know he's been gone for two seasons, but the starters last year (minus Storm) had been mostly developed defensively under his tutelage. After years of playing merely above-average defense at Wofford, MY's defensive acumen was one of the biggest risks when he was hired (along with recruiting). But with Frazier's coaching, VT played 'tenacious D'. Aluma and Cattoor were nothing special defensively at Wofford, but both seriously amped up their defensive game with Frazier's coaching. Our staff clearly needs a 'defensive specialist', and I'm not sure we have one anymore. ** Edited by The_Phew at 2/27/2023, 11:10:27 AM
