This is just bad luck. The only thing you can really blame him for is not keeping Alleyne around. However, if Maddox were available, the Alleyne's absence wouldn't matter that much. Sorry to be a smartass. There is some issue, a bit like the football team, where a lot of teams we play just have more physical, freakier athletes than we do. Last year Aluma was great, but he wasn't an explosive athlete. Alleyne seemed to be the exception and that's why I was bummed about his departure. We were probably tired from the multiple ACC games last March, but Texas gloved us up on D and sort of manhandled us in the tourney game. They had some really impressive rangy athletes. Alleyne was the one guy that could naturally fend them off. We just always seem to be at a disadvantage with length and athleticism. The lack of depth that leads to us getting worn down late in the season is a bit similar to Seth's teams. No matter what, I seriously doubt we can land another coach anywhere near as good as Mike Young. Hiring Jones from DeMatha seemed to be the remedy for getting better athletes from the DC area, but then Rice gets hurt. Maybe its just hard to recruit these days in Blacksburg. B12 teams will take Jucos and guys we won't accept, that's my theory for why Kansas State is always pretty good. I ask myself, why is JMU better than us in football. Why doesn't K-State have the issues that we do? I don't get the feeling that Whit is interested in finding the answer or even knows what the question is.
