The Avdalas thing asking for 3 million bothers me.As a former international

student who came to this country on an F1 visa, I had the honor and privilege of getting a degree from one of the best engineering schools in the country while doing everything right and following all the rules of the visa system, this thing is like a slap on my face. To me this is not just gaming the system, it's blatantly committing immigration fraud. F1 students are restricted on the hours they can work, and they can only work on campus (only 20 hours per week, 40 during the summer). These are essentially pros who have zero intention of getting a degree from a university and are just using a minor league system to make money which they couldn't make it in their home countries (good for them, there are suckers out there willing to pay for this). So how about asking for a work visa (like an H1B or something similar for pro athletes) and just cut the charade of using a student visa? Also, asking for 3 million (or whatever he is asking) has nothing do with NIL, it's pay for play. Or do we think suddenly the Shelor Motor Mile is giving him 3 million when is he is hanging out in the Greek Islands to advertise their business? In the past we have had legitimate international students who used the opportunity to get a degree (Alvaro Tor, Rodrigo Viegas, Dongo, and many others), but the current batch (not just at VT) are just pros (just like American players) who have zero intention of getting a degree. ** Edited by HokieBrazil at 4/8/2026, 11:49:16 AM
