Pace, limiting 3-point shots are the keys today for VT.
FSU plays at No. 18 tempo in the country, with avg offensive possession length ranking of No. 12. Very, very fast, and it takes the fifth-most 3-pointers in the country, too, at 33 per game. Ridiculous stat. It only shoots 31.1% from deep (No. 316), but it's the sheer volume.
Noles have played a lot of teams really tough — Duke, Wake, SMU, UVa. Beat Miami on the road. Doing those things and taking care of the ball are huge. They force a lot of turnovers.
VT is familiar with FSU's best player, Robert McCray. Was the leading scorer on that Jacksonville team that beat the Hokies in Cassell last season. Had 17, 8 and 4 that day. He's been a terrific distributor this year with the Noles with an assist rate of 45.1%, No. 4 in D-I.
