And I’ll be honest, when I first replied after reading some of the thread, I had just read a GC post and thought I was replying to him. I own up to that. I have a lot of respect for both of your basketball knowledge and connections. But I also have my personal opinion about the many snarky posts over time (my view, again thinking it was GC), which I responded as I did. I have no doubt this will be unpopular with some and that’s fine. That’s one thing I like about TSL is that people can disagree or have style differences and still stay relatively civil. As to the meat of what you said, because that is important, thank you for sharing. If there were promises made and then broken, then damn the VT athletic department failed everyone. It’s the same in any business, trust is vital. If we didn't stick to our plans or went against our word then that is a failure. And that is the key to all of this interesting discussion over the past day. Some are talking about strategy and some are talking about execution. Both of those have to be solid in order to succeed. I’m very focused on financial strategy. Others look at team building or game winning execution. Others at facilities or staff building. All of it is relevant and connected and is worthy of discussion. Back to the original posts, my view remains that it’s silly to complain about football (setting aside any broken promises that most of us never know about), when football is keeping the lights on and keeping us from financial pain. We are among the lowest spending ADs in the P4 and have been for years. We created our own problem. Now we need to fix it. This is a business need that might require some tough choices (and I say that as someone who has been laid off twice from a corporate job and might face that fate again next year). I’m very aware of the impacts that business decisions can have on people.
