You only cheat for players outside of your recruiting "zone"
For VT, players in the 80-120 range are where VT operates competitively. Moving up to the 60s would take some connections (like Mike Jones for Rice, Jamie McNeilly for NAW and Coach Richardson for DFS) or cheating (Chris Clarke, Landers Nolley)
It makes zero sense for a program like Alabama to do underhanded things to get a recruit who doesn't raise their profile and will be a bench guy for 2-3 years at best. Even if you assume they are cheating, they do not have unlimited resources and those resources are better spent going after players who would raise their profile rather than Dioubate who is outside the Top 100.
It's the same reason it would be dumb for VT to cheat to land Jaydon Young because they could find another player just like him, and if they were going to spend money to cheat, why wouldn't they do it for DeShawn Harris-Smith instead? Money spent on guys you can win anyway is money taken from where you can raise your profile.
In essence, unless VT is going to start going after the really big fish then none of the prospects they lose will be due to illegal means.
Now if Radford steals a recruit VT wanted, then you can raise some red flags. But Alabama taking a VT recruit in the 80-120 range is simply losing a kid who wanted something different
