That's just not true...

The Spurs created a defense in the Conference Semis designed solely to stop Steph Curry. Every time he would come off a ball screen, they would play high side with their backs essentially to the half court line, while doubling with a post player helping in the screen. It was a complete antithesis for how to play defense at the time. It slowly became an option again when James Harden got really good, and that defensive shift has been his downfall because he does not move without the ball like Curry. But the defense itself was created, on the spot, just for Steph Curry. Again, he was SIXTH in MVP voting. That's respect for someone who is still in their 5th season. He hadn't even made it to his first real contract, but was voted 6th and made 2nd Team All-NBA For reference, Anthony Edwards finished 7th this year in MVP voting...I think we can all admit Anthony Edwards is pretty great and will be the face of the USA team in 4 years...that's the level we are talking about with Curry.
