Your definition of low ceiling........

is suspect and ignores a lot of considerations, not the least of which is the talent of his teams versus the talent of the opposition. In fact, your definitions of floor and ceiling are both dubious. Have you considered a high ceiling could be getting the maximum out of the hand dealt and a low floor might be getting bare minimum out of the hand dealt. You raise valid concerns about player retention but, the players that left, by your own acknowledgement have talent, so recruiting may not be the issue you make it out to be and backfilling at inopportune times and having to make do with what is available is not an indictment of ability to recruit either. The real trick is not to be PATT or NATT but, be open to considering all realistic possibilities.
