The top 10 come from these years:

from best to worst: 2015 2015 2024 2018 2022 2022 2018 2019 2021 2018 And like I said, while one of last year's was great, the other was historically bad (for a NYD game). The day those games are played on (NYE vs. NYD) certainly matters, so it's not always very apples-to-apples, but there's no obvious increasing trend I've seen anywhere. Last year was the 3rd best total viewership year of the CFP era. Is that indicative of an overall upward trend (keep in mind that *2015* was better for all 3 games)? And even to the extent it could be seen that way, is last year because of a trend or because of the big-name teams? I think there's definitely growing dissatisfaction in people who watch for the pleasure of simply watching football. I think it's been counteracted by people who watch because of betting in various forms. CFP looks fairly flat over it's history with bumps up and down based on who's playing, but it's definitely not definitively getting increasing viewership.
