That's actually not what happened at all. Calipari was still able to lure

some of the best players to Kentucky, as proved by their NBA draft results: 2024 (two 1st round, one 2nd), 2023 (one 1st, one 2nd), 2022 (two 1st), 2021 (one 1st, one 2nd), 2020 (two 1st one 2nd), 2019 (three 1st). And on and on and on. He's basically averaged 2 first rounders every single year at Kentucky forever. What changed is that he hasn't won that much with all that NBA talent. He hasn't won the SEC regular season since 2020, and he hasn't won the SEC Tournament since 2018, and he's only won one single NCAA game in the last 6 years. That's a lot of non-championship and non-NCAA success years. The fans and boosters at Kentucky finally realized that bragging about your recruiting stars and NBA draft picks isn't really that fun when you're not beating your peers and you can't even advance in the NCAA Tourney.
