That was essentially the comment I made above - setting aside that some

VT fans thought Jones' ability to recruit was an issue, I think VT basketball in 2024 would be in a better position as far as recruiting and roster management if we had never hired Mike Jones to begin with. I don't follow closely enough to know but did we go into the Mike Jones hire knowing he would be a short-term rental but did it anyway to pick up a couple high value recruits, or did VT flub something with Jones to make him skip town and go to UMD? I'm asking the question to ask the question, not to make an assumption or a statement because I legitimately have no idea and am curious. From my perspective, it would seem Jones' decision to head to UMD had more to do with Jones and where he wants to be than it did with VT and something they did or didn't do for Jones.
