And I am not criticizing Pedulla's ability to score. I just said I don't think Young's offense is about 1-on-1 (or more drives). He seems to prevent ball movement, play movement, spacing Part of our problem with others not necessarily being able to "make their own shots" is that we don't have good space. You can see Nickel and Long wanting to drive. Long obviously was able to score before coming to VT. But when someone drives, they are dealing with 2-3 players because their teammates are not moving away from the drive to take their defender with them. You can see players drive with Kidd near them (not setting screen) or the wing player 3 feet away (with their defender 1-2 feet away). Pedulla has to face that also, which has led to some turnovers and accusations of forcing it. If we had better spacing and movement off the ball that gives space to drivers, I bet Pedulla would be more awesome, others would score off drives, and we would have more dishes to open shooters.
