He lays on ball screens too much...

But he wont be defending guards at the next level. I dont even think he will be a PG. This year is all about his development and hes at VT because theyre pushing him to do things that will help him at the next level. He is a serviceable enough defender to be league average defender at his best. He will never be a lock down defender, and if he were he'd go #1 overall.
