College basketball is quite different from football in that respect

Everyone basically shares film willingly. Whether its televised or just your own recording from your own camera, not much is hidden wrt film. Sometimes you'll have an agreement not to share the film, but many times thats broken. Youll give it to Team X in exchange for their film on Team Y and then it gets passed around anyway. In-season its mandated to share film, so a televised game actually helped me do my job when I would upload our video because I didnt have to render our film or cut anything. So, to more simply answer your question, I dont think they get too worked up about a televised scrimmage. I think they prefer closed scrimmages because you dont have to play by the rules of a regular game. You can set up situations, play 6 periods, etc. that you cant do when there's an audience who would have no idea what's going on
