Vandy definitely uses some of their endowment for athletics. I think many

misunderstand what a university endowment is (not saying you do or don't). Vandy has a few thousand different funds that make up "the endowment." Just like here at Tech. The endowment is the pooling of those funds and their monies. Many of those funds will be designated and some won't be. But many of their scholarship (for athletics) are "endowed" scholarships that, in fact come from their endowment. Just like here and every other major university. VT's endowment is close to $1.7B (at last fiscal year) and of that $1.7B, approximately $70M is earmarked for athletics scholarships. I believe Vandy was actually the first school in the SEC to endow their head football coaching position. That was over 20 years ago with several million earmarked for that endowment back then. Who knows what that endowed fund is worth today? But that is part of their overall Endowment. Might want to research, or look into, the Opportunity Vanderbilt Endowment Fund and how that has transformed their baseball team/program. But Vandy definitely uses some of their endowment for athletics.
