Tickets for students during break this year was a lottery. And they weren’t in hot demand for the UVA game, so I doubt many students are having to pay to get in, during break. So far, I have been mostly proud of student attendance this season, but other than the UVA game, regular fan attendance has been pretty abysmal. I would be in favor of this system: During non-conference games the student section is expanded and relocated. The current section for students would remain the same, but we would also be given a chunk of the sideline, opposite of the benches. That section would fill first, then the one behind the basket, and top corner would be FREE over flow. Tech has 30,000 something students. Gotta get more of them in there. We also need more promotions and more incentives to get students in the building. That could be giveaways, football ticket giveaways, signed items, campus gift cards. Anything. I have also discussed this before, but basketball is neglected by the Athletic Department to the point where students know nothing. For as little recognition the team gets, you would think we were actually the 13th worst team in the conference, but that’s just not the case. We all know how insane and enjoyable Cassel is when it’s rocking, and there’s no reason that can’t happen more. It seriously is one of the loudest and toughest places to play in the country.
