Not at all...

The way the Duquesne staff approaches the season is to put in a very small amount of sets with the majority of the time going to the heavy lifting actions theyll do. So they are more proficient early on than teams who are looking to reach their ceiling at the end of the year. This is because at Akron (and Duquesne for the most part) we played in a 1-bid league. So the quality wins you pick up are front-loaded...not back loaded like VT and the ACC. They also have a huge advantage in experience. John Hugley is in his 187th year of college basketball after being All-ACC as a r-Soph three years ago. Three of their other 4 starters were with Duquesne last season, including 2 of which have been at Duquesne their whole careers and bow theyre a junior and a senior. Has nothing to do with talent and everything to do with who had the right concoction of circumstances to be good on that particular day. If it were a pick up game VT wins. If it were a game that mattered, VT wins. It was neither of those and VT happened to lose and the only people who care are fans who are reading too much into it

Why shouldn't you put any stock in exhibitions/scrimmages?

Both teams are doing that same thing so it comes down to talent vs talent…

We don't know that Duquesne is the 9th best team

Tech's biggest issue is turnovers right now

That's part of it. Team effort today, though.
