- College b-ball & football have been semi-pro for a very, very long time

...decades. - College basketball & football have been "money-driven" for a very, very long time...decades. - College coaches and administrators have been looking out for their own financial futures for a very, very long time...decades. If you think "young men that look out for their own financial futures" means that they are "down in the mud", then I guess you don't believe in capitalism and you don't believe in the American dream...or maybe you just don't remember what it was like to be young again with your own financial future up in the air... It is good and right for young athletes to look out for their own futures and to get paid handsomely for their talents to entertain others. As for your worry about coaches and players having close relationships, seriously...I don't think you need to worry about that. Paid coaches will coach. And paid workers/players will work/play for fans. And fans will pay to watch and to be entertained. Capitalism at its best...

It's amazing how many people don't want college athletes to make any money.
