I think your point hits on what the athletic department and the MBB program

need to hear. If we are turning down NIT invitations, we better start behaving like a team that EXPECTS to make the NCAA tournament each and every season. To me, that means appropriately resourcing the program with staff & $$$/NIL and making sure said staff understands that they have now established NIT invitation as a failure, and their performance is judged on that benchmark going forward.

It was 25 teams in 73 then it moved to 32 a couple years later.

Yes. NCAA 25 Teams, NIT 16 Teams in 1972-1973 Season. Combined, 41 Teams.
