I know the media money is separate from NIL money. My intent was to highlight that having more media money gives the boosters more options for what they want to do. Example: VT gets $40 m in ESPN money this year VT boosters are willing to throw in another $10 m for either donations or NIL. So all in $ resources are up to $50 m to potentially use on athletic and facilities budgets. Of that, up to $10 m could be for NIL. But we have to carefully weigh the options. At the P2 schools it might be: $60 m media money $10 m booster money $70 m total to distribute for them. NIL money potential might still be the same, but it puts the athletic budget far ahead. So their boosters no longer need to donate. They can focus all their money on NIL and still get the benefit of the school having more budget for top coaches and nicer facilities.
