Can the other sports sponsored by the school compete at that level?
I would be surprised if you could find an example where a school is able to compete at different classes (i.e. A, AA, AAA, etc.) depending on the sport. Most (maybe all) states determine the cut off for each class based on the school's total enrollment. Hence why the school is required to compete at the same class for all sports based on the state's class cycle. For VA it is 2 years or it was 2 years when my father worked in the public school system, but it may have changed now.
