There are a variety.......

of things to explain free throw disparity and home/road win differentials that have very little to do with any real, nefarious plot. Travel, familiarity with arena, familiarity with pregame routines, crowd volatility, etc., etc.. You make a very valid point about disparities shifting significantly due to late circumstances. For a very long time the ACC has been a league where teams look to hold serve at home and steal as many W's on the road as they can. This approach has only increased with conference expansion and the changing landscape of one and dones and transfers.
