IMO, he doesn't have as much potential/skill as you think.

He largely has average - at best - athletic skills and probably below average physical assets. And most importantly he doesn't have good basketball instincts - he's way too frequently a beat too slow on offense and defense. He might have some success at a lower level where being a beat slow isn't as glaringly obvious or penalizing.
