He did a much better job performing his role. VT is better off if he moves along, and he is better off finding a place that can give him a fresh start. From a logical standpoint, VT needs to upgrade experience and talent at both PG and C. Rechsteiner isn't staying at VT to be the 3rd string PG, and VT isn't getting better if he is the starting PG. So unless Hammond decides to leave, I think there will be a mutual parting of ways, and maybe even if he does leave. I think Rechsteiner can eventually become a solid college PG, I'm just not sure he can at VT given the needs of the team and his needs as a player not aligning. So...with that said, VT needs to throw their weight behind Lawal, Schutt, Johnson and Hammond (in that order) and add pieces to that at PG and C...then fill out the roster with what is missing. That is doable* *pending the football team needing a 7th string transfer WR from Bay State University
