Most schools would never elevate an assistant after a trainwreck season.

But then again, this is the same school that once did exactly that when 'promoting' James Johnson. Also the same school that hired its men's hoops DOBO to be the head women's hoops coach. I will never bet money against VT making the worst possible decision when it comes to basketball, regardless of who happens to be AD at the time. The institutional failures in hoops have been going on for decades, with brief flashes (Greenberg, Buzz, Henrickson, Brooks) among the gloom.
