Mike Young's seat is not warm. It's not even lukewarm. The fans like Mike Young, he's a good fit, he's won two national coach of the year awards, he's got an ACC title, etc. Even if all of that weren't true, there's a Ballein on the staff, haha. Point being, he's not going to get fired unless we absolutely suck. Seth Greenberg made just one NCAA Tournament in nine years, and even then it was like pulling teeth for him to get fired, and many were against it. It's just not in VT's culture. VT is Clemson in terms of the "hardcoreness" of the basketball side, and we see how long Brownell has been at Clemson. And nor am I an advocate of Young getting fired. He made a big mistake (IMO) in building his recruiting around Mike Jones, but that's a total hindsight view of things. This team is missing 40% of it's intended starting lineup (Rice and Buchanan) because of the quick departure of Jones. I was an advocate of the hire at the time, as were most people here. Thus, I'm not going to go all-in against Young when I would have made the exact same mistake. The roster will need some retooling in the offseason to make up for that mistake. Gotta bring in another 4. Or move Nickel to 4, where I think we'd actually get more production out of him. He'd be harder to guard as a 4, it would make us a better ball handling team, etc. But especially we need to bring in two portal wings to replace Cattoor and Rice.
