You have to realize these guys aren't telling you what they think most of the time, they are telling you what they want you to hear. If CMY started talking about how he only goes for 4 and 5*, what sophomore in high school who's rated around 2* at the time is going to give VT the time of day? There is a reason the term 'coachspeak' exists. They are going to try and alienate as few people as possible with their comments, while also doing PR for the program. As a big fan, you may not like it, but to the casual observer, non-VT supporter, it sounds a lot better than telling it like it truly is. Just think if a coach came out and started talking about how the only reason they have the players they do is because they recruited 20 other higher ranked players and missed. How would you perceive that coach, program? How do you think the players would view their own coach after that?
