But he's from PA, went to college in PA not far from State College and it wasn't a big secret he wanted to coach in PA PSU has some dysfunction (as VT fans should be well aware) and they don't have the resources across the board that some of their conference peers have. So they combat this by taking money from basketball (sound familiar?) to keep football on the same plane It got their HC fired in football and tanked the basketball program for a season (sound familiar?) TBD whether they try to course correct next season or try to go all-in for a new coach but judging by their history it's probably the latter Mike Rhoades is one of the Top 20 basketball minds regardless of level in college. But it just goes to show you theres a static ceiling no matter how good a coach is when you don't fund the program
