Athletes currently have to be academically eligible...

The overwhelming majority of players in the transfer portal are there because they were pushed out of their former school. Making them sit a year on top of that is the opposite of smart

Serious question...who was the last player to be "academically ineligible".**
hok1eboy 12/29/24 09:13 PM ET
So how are you going to do #2? Pretty sure that rule won't pass Supreme
UTPr0sim 12/27/24 04:08 PM ET
1 has always been true. 2 will no longer hold up in court even if NCAA
BG Hokie 12/27/24 01:39 PM ET
I don’t even see how many of these athletes CAN stay eligible
hokiepro 12/27/24 09:00 PM ET
NIL by any other name is "bag [persons]"**

so it seems pretty obvious, at least to me, that eventually there has to be
Squatro 12/28/24 06:24 PM ET
You mean like Dexter Manley was academically eligible. What a joke. **
VT72 12/27/24 11:13 PM ET
Ah yes, your undoubtedly true anecdote refutes the whole argument**
GCHokie34 12/27/24 11:44 PM ET
Let them go to Europe or the G-League. It's the money they want.
N2VT2 12/27/24 06:46 PM ET
Who is "them"?
GCHokie34 12/27/24 07:04 PM ET
With the exception of Camden were any of our players cut?**
HokieBrazil 12/27/24 07:11 PM ET
In this past season only?
GCHokie34 12/27/24 07:16 PM ET
Have them sign contracts. If pushed out school has to pay
Hokey Pokey 12/27/24 03:35 PM ET
Wait til you hear how to make that happen.. **
GCHokie34 12/27/24 04:26 PM ET
Coaches sign contracts, pro players sign contracts what is your point **
Hokey Pokey 12/27/24 05:09 PM ET
The point is you need collective bargaining, which requires unionization
vtbball80 12/27/24 07:23 PM ET
Why Do you need a CBA? Coaches sign contracts. They have no CBA.**
Atlee Hokie 12/27/24 08:12 PM ET
Coaches have a union...**
GCHokie34 12/27/24 11:56 PM ET
Theoretically, maybe not, but practically, I think you do
vtbball80 12/27/24 10:24 PM ET
A union would be up to the players to form
Hokey Pokey 12/28/24 08:10 AM ET
So? These are no longer amateur athletes treat them as pros**
Hokey Pokey 12/27/24 07:47 PM ET
Pros have unions and CBAs**
GCHokie34 12/27/24 11:57 PM ET
Just pointing out the most likley method to make that happen**
vtbball80 12/27/24 10:26 PM ET
Classify athletes as employees,
Pride_and_Joy 12/27/24 11:40 AM ET
I agree with a CBA. Not sure I'd like seeing them become employees...
