Yep. MY's problems retaining talent started well before NIL craziness.

I think he's too old-school, and too wedded to running his "system" come hell or high water, to be able to effectively recruit and keep ACC level talent. IMHO, he's a lesser version of Tony Bennett, who was dealing with a lot of the same issues at UVA. The difference is that Bennett had a ring (and an admin more committed to basketball) which enabled him to get more talent in the door. But he also had trouble retaining players, and saw the handwriting on the wall this year. If you're gonna run a snails-pace, perimeter-oriented offense that apparently takes years to learn, you had better win. Otherwise, good luck finding players who want to play in that type of program.
