Great debate below.......

with plenty of food for thought on all sides. Thanks for getting it started. Successful programs have a very good grasp of who they are, a good grasp of who they can be and a proven working model to generate the level of resources needed AND, most importantly, efficiently spend those resources to get the desired results. Fans may desire a particular level but, are they willing to spend to make that happen? Administrators may have a different vision or desire but, the question is whether they are willing and committed to developing the infrastructure to make it happen. For quite a while now, VT, both fans and administrators, have not been able to craft a consistently aligned vision and develop/execute a plan to make it happen. To add another variable to the mix, the collegiate landscape is in such Flux at present that it is even more difficult to know where they want to go or how to get there.
