...margin of victory must be included. A system based off of just wins and losses but blind to efficiency/actual scores has way bigger issues than any problem people have with the NET. I do have some quibbles with the NET it is BY FAR the best way the committee has evaluated teams in its history. It is a tool that is really only asked to be accurate at the very end of the season yet it is evaluated constantly during the season. I also think talking heads that haven't done the mock selection put too much emphasis on just Quad 1. From the people who advise schools on this AND the journalists who have done the mock selection it's pretty common to hear that the bigger point of discussion is performance in the top 2 quadrants vs. performance in the bottom 2 and then those are looked at more specifically (quad 1 wins carrying more value, quad 4 losses being more damning etc). VT is on the outside looking in right now because this team has had a good number of chances to beat good teams and just hasn't done it. 1-6 in Quad 1 and 4-8 in the first two quadrants isn't great.
