VT Baseball Q3 2025 Recruiting Updates…
I posted this on the recruiting board as well but with Q3 having just wrapped up, below is a VT Baseball recruiting recap which highlights the commitments and decommitments we saw from July through September. Recruiting Summary • 2025 Class: We saw a total of 5 decommitments in Q3 with one (IF Carson Quillen) going to the SEC and the other four (RHP Christopher Moore, RHP Weston Lillard, RHP Colin Woolard, OF Kaden Hart) being impacted by roster constraints. We also had one recruit (IF/OF Aiden Arnett) reclassify from the 2025 to the 2026 class. • 2026 Class: We saw two decommitments in Q3 with both (OF Brady Abate to Wake Forest, LHP Brody Carr going to Vanderbilt) going to prestigious baseball schools. • 2027 Class: We added six commitments including a few nationally ranked prospects to an already standout class that now gives us what appears to be a very promising 2027 class if we can fend off other SEC/ACC schools and professional teams. Commitments • 2027 SS Anthony Badillo (6’0” 175, R/R, MD, #173 PG): Committed to VT on 9/22. Quality middle infield prospect that is currently ranked nationally in the Top 200 by Perfect Game that flashes good contact at the plate to go along with exit velocities in the high 90’s and solid speed (~6.6 60-yd dash). • 2027 RHP Michael Fekete (6’2” 208, R/R, NJ, #413 PG): Committed to VT on 9/9. Sturdy right-handed pitcher that currently sports an upper 80’s fastball that can touch 90/91 along with a hard slider/curveball in the upper-70’s mph range. • 2027 OF Rocco Bucci (5’8” 180, L/L, OH, #430 PG): Committed to VT on 9/20. Compact and sturdy lefty that has some two-way potential. At the plate, he shows some good extra-base power potential with exit velocities touching 100mph. As a pitcher, features a mid-80’s fastball paired with a mid-70’s changeup and upper 60’s curveball. • 2027 OF Bradyn Sober (6’1” 172, R/R, PA, 500 PG): Committed to VT on 9/9. Plus hitter that consistently finds barrels and has power potential with exit velocities already in the 102+mph range. Also has a solid arm, sporting OF velocities in the low 90’s range. • 2027 LHP Ethan Suppi (5’11” 165, L/L, NJ, 500 PG): Committed to VT on 9/20. Not the tallest pitcher, but has an athletic build and has started to push his fastball into the upper 80’s and touching 90/91 on occasion. He throws from a tough ¾ slot and also features a hard slider. • 2027 SS/OF Sam Pearson (6’0” 165, L/R, KY, HF PG): Committed to VT on 9/24. Two-sport standout who also excels as a WR/DB in football. Brings an athletic build to baseball with plus speed (6.54 60-yd dash) and solid bat to ball skills at the plate. Decommitments • 2025 IF Carson Quillen (Vanderbilt) • 2025 RHP Christopher Moore (Elon) • 2025 OF Kaden Hart (Northwest Florida State) • 2025 RHP Weston Lillard (TBD) • 2025 RHP Colin Woolard (UNC Asheville) • 2026 OF Brady Abate (Wake Forest) • 2026 LHP Brody Carr (Vanderbilt) Other Updates • 2025 IF/OF Aiden Arnett (5-11, 175, R/R, WI, HF PG): Reclassified to the 2026 class presumably in part due to roster constraints in 2026. He is an intriguing prospect that had a very productive short summer stint in the Northwoods League as an outfielder but offers positional versatility to project as an infielder too.

Jake Cozart Decommitted from 2026 Class
This is definitely a concerning trend, but one that seems to tie in with the new roster shrinkage. So, this may be the status quo going forward to lose a couple guys before they even make it to campus. Also, as I mentioned in a recent post, this class has a lot of JUCO guys coming in that may make it hard for freshmen to win spots. I don't necessarily think it's an issue just yet, but our top two 2026 hs recruits in Alex Hoffman and Palmer Hornick have yet to be announced by the VT Baseball account as part of the '26 class, yet almost everyone else has...They both still list that they're committed to Tech in their socials, but it caught my attention. It also maybe that the VT Baseball account was holding off announcing anymore guys once the Franklin news came out.

Both Hornick and Hoffman are confirmed for the '26 class
No concern with those two anymore. Seems they let the Franklin news make its rounds before announcing the rest of the recruits for the class. Cozart just committed to ODU.

Losing recruits to big schools like that is tough
Makes you think they've had a really great year and those schools were willing to shell out some money to sign them away. Lee Sowers was the first guy I remember recently that we lost from a recruiting class to another nearby school. I'm less than enthused to see we've lost two guys this time for the '26 class.
