With 9 games of ACC play under our belts, I thought it would be interesting to see where are hitters and pitchers stack up in comparison to ACC averages for SLG/OBP for hitters and ERA/WHIP for pitchers. The visuals below provide a view of the comparisons with the red lines representing the ACC in-conference averages for each metric. Based on the information, here are a few observations. Hitting (among hitters with at least 10 at-bats in conference play) • Sam Tackett is #1 in conference play in both SLG and OBP. Jackson Cherry isn’t too far behind him in OBP while also showing good SLG (.750). • The only other hitters who are above ACC average in both SLG and OBP are Henry Cooke, Ben Watson and Hudson Lutterman. • Jared Davis is above average in SLG but below average in OBP while Cam Pittman is the opposite. • We have four hitters that are below average in both categories: Clay Grady, David McCann, Garrett Michel, David Lewis with Lewis at the bottom in both SLG and OBP. Pitching (among pitchers with at least 1 inning in conference play) • We have only two pitchers who are better than average in both ERA and WHIP: Brett Renfrow, Andrew Sentlinger. • Cameron LeJeune has a worse than average ERA but better than average WHIP while Preston Crowl is the opposite. • Jake Marciano and Luke Craytor are slightly worse than average in both ERA and WHIP with Mathieu Curtis being a little worse in ERA. • Our lowest performing pitchers in-conference have been Grant Manning, Logan Eisenreich, Luke Jackman and Jacob Exum
