This past week was relatively quiet overall for a lot of our hitters and pitchers, but the week featured the start of the Cape Cod League and probably most importantly, the return of Garret Michel to the diamond. Below are a few highlights from the week of June 10th. Hitter of the Week • Nick Locurto (LF/RF/DH, Strasburg, Valley League): In three games this past week, he slashed .417 avg | .533 obp | .750 slg | 1.283 ops including a double, home run and three runs batted in while his team went 3-0. Pitcher of the Week • None selected as we only had two pitchers make appearances and neither of them (Carson Ohl, Wyatt Parliament) had particularly good outings. Other Hitter Updates • Henry Cooke (C, Falmouth, Cape Cod League): Had a great start to his summer with a home run and two runs batted in while also throwing out one runner behind the plate in his one appearance this past week. • Jared Davis (2B/SS/CF/DH, Sanford, NECBL): Had a good week across 5 games slashing .381 avg | .458 obp | .429 slg | .887 ops scoring five runs while having a double and seven stolen bases. • Ethan Gibson (SS/2B/DH, Charlottesville, Valley League): Had a solid week despite not hitting for a high average (.235) in 5 games. In 17 at-bats, he scored eight runs, had a double, triple, five walks and three stolen bases and finished with a .409 obp and .821 ops. • Mycah Jordan (RF/LF/CF, Greeneville, Appalachian League): Had a fairly quiet week but did manage to have a .294 average in 17 at-bats with a double and 3 runs batted in. Something to watch will be his patience at the plate. Through 8 games and 37 at-bats, he has yet to draw a walk. • Ryder Kirtley (2B/SS/3B/DH, Greeneville, Appalachian League): Struggled again this week going 0 for 9 with five strikeouts in four games. For the summer, he has just one hit in 22 at-bats for a 0.45 avg. • Garrett Michel (1B, Bourne, Cape Cod League): Played in one game and while he didn’t have a hit, he managed to draw a walk, get hit by a pitch, stole a base and scored a run. Other Pitcher Updates • Carson Ohl (RP, Greeneville, Appalachian League): After two scoreless outings in previous weeks, he took a loss in his one outing this week, giving up 3 runs (just one earned) and 3 hits in 1.0 innings. Despite the less than stellar outing, he still holds a 1.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP for the summer and continued to display great control as 17 of his 19 pitches went for strikes this past week. • Wyatt Parliament (SP, Bourne, Cape Cod League): Made his summer debut getting the start for Bourne yesterday (Sunday). Didn’t have a particularly good outing as he took the loss while logging 3.0 innings and giving up 3 runs (2 earned), 5 hits and 2 walks and also gave up a home run which was an issue for him this season.
