The MLB Rule 4 draft will be sapping some of our power from the lineup and I was hoping we might go and grab a power bat out of the portal. We did just that. Welcome Jackson Cherry to the fold. He comes from Mercer and brings a whole lot of THUMP. He typically mans a corner OF position. He may also see time at DH. He's a Virginia boy, so it's good to have him home. Check his instagram story for the news. This past season he slashed .290/.393/.633 w/ 18 BOMBS 27BB 62K's. A .633 slugg is an absolutely absurd number to put up. He's a lefty so that RF wall at English is going to get an awful lot of baseball flybys. He also performed well in the summer of '23 in the Coastal Plains League where he slashed .294/.425/.482 w/ 3 homers in 25 games. We've managed to add speed, contact, and power from transfer acquisitions. I'm excited to see these guys wearing maroon and orange next season!
