My point is and always has been.......

that when asking people to contribute their own money you should be able to demonstrate that you are doing your part. If I am a fundraiser for a charity my ask to others is more credible if I have donated myself. In a slightly different vein an organization(school, charity, whatever) should be able to demonstrate their own credibility in terms of maximizing their own revenue producing opportunities and effectively and efficiently managing their expenses BEFORE AND IF they intend to ask others to contribute. VT, IMO, missed a prime opportunity to raise funds in the early years when they were doing more with less. They not only left dollars on the table but, could have reset the culture of expectations for future donors/contributors to VT.

VTScoop 08/17/24 03:11 PM ET
Of course, some of those expenditures are offset by ticket sales.
saret 08/17/24 10:06 AM ET

HokieBoy 08/25/24 10:02 PM ET

saret 08/17/24 06:02 PM ET
Well, baseball does sell tickets but only to ACC games.
RJHokie 08/17/24 12:53 PM ET
