there was a throw to the plate. On that throw, he stretched a single and got himself in scoring position as the ball came through the infield. My HS coach called those types of plays “attaboys.” On the play tonite, I think he maybe had that play in mind, but just tried to do too much. Huge out, b/c I believe Arroyo, the next batter, singled and he would have ended up on third or maybe even scored to tie the game. Maybe Pittman baited him earlier in the game when he grounded the baseball 20 feet in front of him on a throw to third.
