Regarding Swift, @Vawter Tech pretty much highlighted…

my same doubts. His fastball is marginal but he does have really good off-speed pitches and exceptional command so he is definitely someone that I think has a chance for a long-relief role but he is already 20 years old (he reclassed in high school/essentially prepped a year) and technically would be a draft-eligible sophomore next year and he doesn’t have the biggest frame and already pitches with high-intent so I’m not sure how much more he can uptick his velocity. In terms of starting, I think the main issue he faces are the talented arms in front of him. If healthy, we should be set with a Renfrow/Robertson/Stieg rotation which should be top-notch. Even if Stieg winds up in the bullpen, I think Swift would be behind Clement if he’s healthy and we also have incoming transfer Ben Weber who should log big innings. That doesn’t even factor in Eisenreich and Crowl who had bigger roles than Swift last year. I do think he could edge out Yagesh for a long relief role, but Yagesh was more effective last year in conference play than Swift and Yagesh has had a good summer as a starter in the NECBL. Swift was solid in his own right in the Cape as he did a good job of missing bats but he had a pretty high walk total in limited innings, so we’ll have to monitor if he nibbles too much against better competition. In any case, it’s nice to have the potential problem of finding innings for quality arms. Given our injury history, I have no doubt Swift will be a key part of our staff over the course of the season. Regarding the transfers, @njhokie4 provided previous analysis from myself and Vawter Tech that sums the prospects up nicely. I also plan to do a deep dive on them and the team in coming months.
