My thought is it mostly depends on pitching.
I’m not sure the Hoos and a fair number of usually good teams have the pitching this season that they’ve had in the past.
The ACC has had a run rule requirement in its tournament games for at least a few years, but made it a regular season rule this year. A team with good pitching depth can stay close with the best hitting teams though.
