The offense is going to be there. But I think this years version will be more complete and better. The lineup is much more balanced. 2 hole is now a true second lead off in ODonnell instead of Teel who is 4/5th which opens things up a little more for Gelof. Bottom of the lineup way better. Ethan Anderson provides pop at 6, and two freshman, Harrison Didawick and Henry Godbout are advanced bats. 9 hole in Rubin should be a .275 guy, likely being the “weakest” bat. It’s a true 9 guy lineup with 7 that can consistently leave the yard. The balance is there and it seems the new guys (transfers/freshman) have better all-around approaches. The concern is pitching again. The early signs are good but the issue is no one proven at this high a level for a season. Nick Parker (transfer from coastal) seems to be the Friday night guy, Brian Edgerton (Elon) on sat and a freshman in O’Connor seems to be a stud in the making. One of the pitfalls was walks at the end of last year and this staff so far is at around 2 per 9 innings. Jay Woolfork looks dominant at closer. The speed is there, control is better and off-speed has more bite. Haven’t played great competition as of yet, though somewhat respectable. Columbia should win the ivy and had some legit prospect arms. I think the rankings are fair but should be a team that hosts in that 13-16 range. I just don’t think the pitching is dominant enough to reach 1-8. If pitching over performs then hosting a super is certainly possible. The hitting should be there all year.
