He is technically on the roster but might be in line for a redshirt...
He was just one of three position players that didn't play this weekend (Matt Westley and Jack Harley being the others). It appears like he is our #8 or #9 outfielder as we had 7 others that played this weekend (Watson, Pittman, Hughes, Tackett, Locurto, Jordan, Hunter) and another (Cherry) that just DH'd but can also play RF.
Given the fact he didn't play and we had two games that were 19-0 and 27-1, I have to assume they may be thinking of redshirting him.
Regardless of whether he plays or redshirts, I doubt he'll have a meaningful role this year and he'll probably focus most of his attention on spring football, then could play summer baseball and then back to football in the fall and then everyone involved (himself and both coaching staffs) will have a better feel for what makes the most sense for him in terms of near-term and long-term success.
If he does have the type of baseball talent his ranking suggests, he should have plenty of opportunity next year as we would definitely lose all of the players that started in the OF this weekend.
