Posting History (33)

Bass Drum

My father played bass drum while at Tech in his early years.

Cadets duties

I am not sure how old you are but it was the duty of underclassmen way back when to have to go to communal rest rooms and warm up the seat for the upper class mates.

Grandma

My grandfather was a Shriner and he was in the parade. My father was going to Tech on and off. He actually graduated the year after I did in 1973. Thanks for the response of everyone

Shriners Bowl

Does anyone on the board remember the Shriners bowl game between the JV teams of Va Tech and VMI they took place at Victory Stadium in Roanoke.

Need coach like

We need a coach like Charlie Claiborne. He used to put all is best players on defense even if one of his best offensive threats had to play defense like Sonny Utz. I guess the new coach will have to find some defensive players. Coach Claiborne didn't work on multi year contract or buyouts. He wanted to be evaluated on his current success or lack of success. Took over Kentucky after I think a Alabama legendary coach went there.

first football game

My first VA Tech vs VMI game was acturally a kind of a JV game and was called the Shriner Bowl I believe and was at Victory Stadium in Roanoke. Can any of the old timers on the board remember this game. Thanks

Dental

It is good that you got your problem teeth which started with your taking Calculus. I too was in trouble when I started the deriviations of math. A double root canal is unheard of now by a dentist. In my area they send you too a dentist who only does them there root salvation treatments. Yes the students at the vet school that I saw were genuinely interested in the animals they were treating. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Good service

I too had a good and a bad experience with the vet school treating my animals. The good experience was a 16 Year old weimarner that had a her back parlazed and they operated on her and got her back to walking. The other was with Weimarner that crawled into the waiting room and I was to late to do anything that day since they were closing. He died during the night. Honestly cannot blame them for his death. I had a 3 hour wait on Christiansburg mountain due to the expanding to 3 lanes wide up the mountain and detour you had to take up 460.

Vet School

I would speak directly to someone at the vet school.

Not as Therapy dogs

No these dogs were not used in the waiting room for dog owners waiting on word about their dogs treatment. I guess this tells you what they were used in experiments.

yes Five years ago. But as some of the posters say they do not know about this. Cystalcovehokie what is your feeling about this?

Beagles

They used them at the vet school is my understanding.

Past supporter

I no longer support Va Tech because of the envigro dog scandal. How could a Vet school condone this activity. Thanks for commenting if you feel like it.

Agree

This is the most important event of all time.

hedges

Yes I had the opportunity to see a game there in 74 I think. I can't remember who played. The hedges then were beautifully manicured.

I Stopped donating when the dogs under the care of VA TECH in Cumberland were allowed to starve and did not receive care and this is from a School with vet School. More about that school's Faculty at a latter date.
