GMU, although a pretty good team, was not ready to play....
their first true road game against a team ALOT better, much better defensively and more athletic than anybody else they've played this year.

The ACC Championship team played very good defense, and it didn't....
look at all like Houston. It's a different philosophy. If you're an advocate for the need to play more aggressive defense, fine, but there are other ways to play defense and be successful - UVa under Tony Bennet is a good example.

the Wing the way Brooks played defense, but not the way Duffy plays defense.

There's too low a sample size for Analytics to determine much of anything..
At this point, using statistical data, I think the only things you could conclude is that Vandy is "probably" the best team and Western Ky is "probably" the worst team. Then, there's everone else.

It sure seems like an unintended outcome of using the Net for tourney....
choices is that it has caused teams to schedule to pile up easy wins early to inflate their efficiency ratings. I haven't run numbers, but it just doesn't seem that there is sufficient adjustment for strength of schedule. I think this is made even worse when there are basically no OOC games post Dec. They really need a "calibration update" across conferences later in the season.
I've heard something about instituting 1-2 OOC games in Jan/Feb. Seems like a good idea.

For me, White was also the best defensive player we lost from last year....
When Duffy got her, I always thought that was the first real shift towards getting players that fit Duffy's style of play. Her experience would have been incredibly helpful this year. She was easy to root for - wishing nothing but the best for her going forward.

MY said he has 7 starters. I think Dorn becomes a solid 10-15 min reserve
8 man rotation is sufficient with the amount of versatility in these guys.
Pasha and Gurdak look like capable emergency reserves. Gurdak just a Fr. and Pasha is still just a Soph. and in a new system.

Yep, playing a big physical team basically without your best player....
The offense "seems" less flowing, but you look at the scoreboard and they're up by 12 and on an 88 point pace.
This team is different.

I'm less worried about perimeter defense than any other MY team.....
They have the required size and athleticism to do that - even compared to the ACC Championship team - they just haven't figured out how to play together -YET.

The ability of those three being able to provide quality post depth is.....

Neo's jump shot mechanics are far better than Magic's. He'll develop...
a better pass vs shoot balance with more PT. Right now, he seems to have a pass first, second and third mentality.

That doesnât help you get calls and it doesnât help you finish when not fouled.
She is absolutely capable. I think she just needs to adjust her primary intent when going to the basket.

Generally, I agree, but I just don't see Baker playing Wing.....
The team has more depth at guard with players that can play perimeter defense more like Duffy wants and Baker will be more needed in the post.
Also, I hope Wenzel is almost exclusively a Wing and the PG duties go to Nelson, Suffren, and Daley - this is also mostly (but not completely) about defense.
And yes, the biggest question mark on this year's team is depth at the 5 spot. Could be the difference between being just good or very good.

It's a question mark, but I think Johnson and Hammond will shoot better....
Also, word is Neo's a better shooter than advertised. Lawal can shoot the 3 (well, when he's WIDE open), and Schutt will actually get open looks this year.
