Taking off the O&M Glasses
The offense was historically bad. Talent may not have been high caliber ACC level, but blaming the talent misses how bad the offense was coached. Lot of articles during the season pointed out some level of cause and effect. Hard to get past all the procedure penalties. You would have thought that would have been fixed by week 3. I was at the Syracuse game in 21 and knew it was time for Fuentes to go. By the middle of season, I was second guessing myself on Fuentes. I am not sold on our OC, but I hope that I am wrong. One of the best things about watching the defense during Foster's prime was how well he game planned and adjusted during the game. Our offensive coaches this year, no do much. Talent, coaching?? Long way of saying that the offense gets a F. I am willing to give the defense a pass considering the offense was not complementary. My grade a C. Un-Special Teams comes in at a D.

College football is not fun for me anymore. I don't need 3-4 months of games to see who is going to join Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State in the playoffs. Yeah, I know that injuries and a upset or 2 might change the picture slightly. In my opinion it hasn't been this bad since the 70s and they limited scholarships to keep Alabama, Ohio State and the likes from enrolling all the talent to keep other teams from having a chance.
I guess what made it more fun was that VT was relevant nationally in the early 2000s. During that period when we played an Alabama or Georgia we may not have been favored, but I didn't go into the game thinking we didn't have a chance. I know that a lot has changed, but I don't enjoy a completive environment where Georgia beats Oregon by 40+ points. I guess I better get used to it because whether we call it the P2 or as mentioned in other post, there are only 8-10 schools that really have a chance.
