Thinking of taking the family to Claytor Lake this Sunday while we are in Blacksburg for the weekend. Haven’t been to Claytor Lake for almost 40 years. Is it still a good place for a day trip or is there any place that is better these days?

I read it a long time ago, but I have been re-reading it. The chapter on Cornell football coach is pretty funny and an amazingly accurate description of modern college football. Players playing into their 30s. Yale floats a bond to buy the whole Texas A&M backfield. The Cornell coach negotiates with his star player to give up engineering and play football in the upcoming season for $35,000. Anyway, it’s a great read if you like Vonnegut’s stuff. It says a lot about the fear of automation in the 1950s along with the rise of corporate culture. Also foresees AI as the next logical step after technology takes over manufacturing.

Only watched a little bit of the game last night, but the Texas catcher made this loud sound by slapping her glove as the pitcher began her wind up. What is the point to that? Although the OU batters did not seem distracted by anything last night, I would think that it would be annoying to the batter.

Diagnosed about a year ago. Unfortunately, a year may have been the timeframe she was given.
