Ross Dellenger reporting on the bipartison Senate deal to reform college sports and provide some guardrails people in college athletics have been asking for (transfer, eligibility and cap enforcement). Not sure what the chances of passing but this seems like a big win for the ACC, Big 12, and smaller conferences for a number of reasons. Primarily by providing an option to pool all FBS college football media rights contracts in an effort to generate more revenue per the clause below. Interestingly enough of the 138 FBS teams if you take away members of the Big10 (18) and SEC (16) it leaves you with 104 votes which gets you just above the 75% pooling threshold (103.5) in the legistlation without needing any of their votes. "A minimum threshold of 75% of the 138 FBS schools must be reached to collectively pool rights, which would come through replicating the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, which provides professional leagues the right to evade antitrust law and collectively pool rights."
