Frank was 87 years old. He was always proud of is accomplishments as all-state and all-American at Hermitage High in Richmond. He was named "Outstanding Athlete in Virginia" in 1955 and inducted into the Virginia High School Hall of Fame in 1994. He was especially proud to be a Hokie! He wore his Hokie gear proudly and loved to talk about his time playing football at Tech. I recall him beaming a few years ago when he told me that Bud Foster had sent him a birthday card. Nice to know that the Tech athletic department didn't forget their own even decades later. Frank was such a sweet old guy who smiled constantly. He'd often sing out "Hokie Hokie Hokie Hi" whenever he saw anyone else wearing Virginia Tech gear. To the end he followed Hokie sports with a passion. So, please say quick prayer for Frank. He was one of the good guys!
