Couldn't script it better

1-seed. 15+ point lead. Historic collapse. *chef's kiss*

Question about Liz

Where is she rehabbing? When a player gets injured like that at the end of her college career, what's the norm? I assume the school takes care of her rehab. If she's going to be around Blacksburg while she rehabs, would be a huge benefit for Strack (or whoever they get to play center). But I don't know if that's how it works..

Well..

Well unlike most on this board, I'm not 100% sold that Georgia goes to Kentucky. Also, she played off-guard a lot at Louisville where she could just be a scorer. They'd be a hell of a backcourt.

Seriously though...

Absolutely. She's an elite-level talent who got lost in the LSU rotation a bit this year. By all accounts I've seen, a good teammate too. Big personality, but someone's going to have to score for this team. She'd be fun to have. Probably goes to Kentucky..

I’m all for the portal, but…

As much as I hate it, it’s the way of life now in college sports. Those players don’t owe us anything. Let them follow their path. That said, I live in Raleigh (like several regulars here). Russell Wilson was a god in this town until he transferred to Wisconsin for his final season. His legacy here was trashed and he’s never been forgiven. I mean they really hate him. Times change. People are more understanding of transfers now. My question is this: do you think people will be more understanding if Georgia follows Kenny, or if she were to go somewhere with a legit shot to win a national championship? For me, I would much rather see her go somewhere with a shot to win the β€˜ship. Something about following KB with the way he left would tarnish her legacy so much more, IMO.

Look guys, I’m just so mad about all this…

I yelled at Whit (here on a message board, I’m not a psychopath), got yelled at back by the boss (sorry David, enjoy your work) and just basically lost it. My apologies. I’m just so disgusted at the way KB handled all this. Leaving wasn’t surprising. My 7-yr old is devastated, as so many are. Still, I get the state of college sports, and it seemed inevitable. I’m disappointed players are leaving but they really should explore their options. But he could’ve had the decency (like Buzz did) to show some gratitude to the fan base here. We were a huge part in the growth of this program, from financial support to ticket sales, to merch, as well as traveling to see the team play. Just so low-class IMO. I think one day he’ll regret how he’s handled this. Anyway, looking forward to some good news from Whit soon. I do hope some of the ladies do stay. We are eager to support them in the off-season and on into next season. You can rebuild quickly in the portal and Tech is a very attractive destination. Let’s go!

Well Poppie got officially hired on Wednesday. KB officially left on Monday

So that's at least true. Maybe he's working hard behind the scenes. But if you don't understand that this athletic department has thrown almost all it's support into football then I don't know what you've been watching. And I'm not saying that's wrong. But there are thousands of fans who aren't wrapped up in football who believed in this WBB program that deserve to be thoroughly disappointed not only in Brooks (first and foremost), but also in the fact that we're over a week later and nothing. I'd be thrilled to be wrong, believe me.

Dropped the ball with Poppie, and now the players are leaving.

This narrative that "he operates in secret" is tired. He had a chance here to keep some of this together, or to bring in someone who could have had a chance to keep the big pieces. Instead, they're leaving while he does whatever the hell he's doing. Just tell us all you DGAF about basketball, already. At least be honest about it..

My thought on Georgia

With all due respect to her relationship with Kenny, I can't see how playing another year for him helps her game in any way. As good a coach as he is, that team will struggle to make the post-season next year. Is being mediocre in the SEC really the way she wants to go out? I don't know. Pretty sure she could transfer to any program in the country and start. Why not Iowa? Their all-world PG is leaving. Perfect offense for Georgia. Or USC (as someone else said). Or hell, as much as I'd hate it, Kim Mulkey loves her some Georgia. I hope to see her go somewhere where the spotlight will be the brightest possible. Not another KB rebuild.

No doubt they'd be huge.

I'd love to add two more starters to ease the transition for the younger guys while keeping us in top half of the league. CMY is just going to have to find less-heralded players who fit the system quickly (like Mutts and Keve). We're going to struggle attracting the big-names until we start winning NCAA tournament games. Imagine how much different this entire thread is if Maddox rims out that shot against Clemson. Fine lines...

I know everyone wants "portal magic" but don't undervalue the 4 kids

they've already got committed to this class. This isn't football where true freshmen rarely make an impact. These kids can really play and will help immediately. Plus Camden. They'll find some other pieces too.
