Posting History (755)

Nah.....we are third tier...easy.

Our record bolstered by crappy wins. We stink against ACC and can only beat the absolute worst teams, and those must be played at home. No excuses for this team....they just stink.

Better competition, much better conpetition.

Sure, racking up early season wins against Maryland Eastern Shore and The Little Sisters of the Poor are great, but year in, year out, we crap the bed against the ACC when the games really matter. Also, we have no clue how to win road games as well. Another key indicator of a bad team. Smoke and mirrors every season.

Another road loss. Another ACC loss. Zero surprise.

This team peaked about 4 or 5 games ago, probably with the improbable UVA win. Mike Young still cannot figure out how to win on the road consistently. Every season it is has been the same thing. Load up front portion of schedule with almost all home games against mostly inferior competition. Rack up around 10 wins and then let the sliding begin with ACC play and road games. The experts have this team on the outside looking in with the NCAA tournament, and I totally agree. Their chances are eroding steadily now. Excited about the promise of football and all the positive signs around that program. Basketball, however, is stuck in 1st gear spinning the tures in the mud.

Factor how many of those 117 wins are early season gimmees.

That ACC record is far more telling of a program not at a winning level. That and almost always missing out on the tourney. Unless we somehow land some future studs, we are destined to be an average middling or worse team in the ACC each year.

Heading quickly in the opposite direction.

Thought maybe, just maybe this team could possibly make the tourney based on their early start. However, they are regressing back to the norm. We're destined to finish around .500 or maybe a game or two higher in the end. Still can't win on the road. Can't close. Who here is looking forward to football?! That's what everyone always says on the football board...looking forward to basketball that is. Not sure why though....they both leave you disappointed in the end.

Well, UVA ain't much better!!!

Miami would've pasted either of these teams. ACC sucked this year...period.

Especially since Miami will likely not get a playoff bid.

No way ACC gets two teams in. No way either UVA or Duke is going far in playoffs.

Yeah, but I believe the disappointment will continue there as well.

Tech is struggling with the big boy sports right now. Football might be poised for change, hopefully positive, not sure of the trajectory of basketball.

Yes. THIS is their super bowl and...

they know that they aren't more than an average team at best.

Lololololol. Cry. Lol. Cry.

Drones putting the icing on his terrible excuse of a season.

Nah. Same donor was probably delusional and thought that....

Drones had an actual NFL career ahead of him. Same guy who thought Drones was Heisman worthy too. I hope this guy encouraged Drones to study something useful, because peo sports are not in the future.

Additionally, scoring streak doesn't mean anything.

We've had some bad teams the last several years. Great, they managed to score at least once in the many losses they've had. Would gladly trade a scoring streak for a consistent winning team again.

Drones crapped the bed all year. This game no different.

He was not going to "redeem" himself with one game, and clearly, is not now. Drones is done. He has no pro future.

That was a friggin disaster!

Holy hell, just concede the game. This is dumb to even continue.

Send him to Epsteins island with no food, power, etc.

Include Pry, Fuente, and the various others that wrecked this program.

Embarrassing that the two teams will likely be....

....UVA and SMU, and Miami will not be going to playoffs as an at-large, because no way that the ACC is going to get two teams in.

Franklin is working on it.

Ours is the result of a bad coach trying to find castoffs that didn't cut it at other programs.

Franklin will need to pull a Deion Sanders...

...and tell everyone upfront that no position is guaranteed and that everyone will need to compete to play.

Just looked at ESPN gamestats....

We're sucking, but so are they. We actually have double possession time to boot.

I'd like to think they just are not good and not anything to do with pride.

If anything, I applaud those who stuck with this team and didn't QUIT like the untold others who left at first sign of adversity, off to the portal to jump ship. It's likely that those who remained knew they wouldn't have many opportunities to be difference makers on other teams. Or, perhaps they did have pride in being a Hokie, enough to stay. Unfortunately, pride isn't enough to win ball games. When skill level is woefully below the other team, the results are expected.

Honestly, this game means nothing.

Its not like the UVA win in 2019 that broke the long streak of losing to us. If they win tonight, so what. We had a very bad season and this team is, to be frank, just not very good. So, yeah, UVA will likely crow again, cue the "Hoo's Your Daddy" videos, and they'll be headed to an ACC Championship to determine the ACC team that will lose handily in a first round playoff game. Will it mean anything? Nope. This one will be forgotten about 5 mins after game ends. Good news is we have some serious hope on the horizon with the recent signees and invigorated style that Franklin is bringing. Oh yeah....UVA also won't catch lightning in a bottle two years in a row...that schedule was as weak as they come, and a few of their wins came gift wrapped by their opponent (i.e., FSU, Louisville).

Well, a win is a win, period....however.....

They won at least two or three of those close games by some pretty good help from the other team. The argument being those teams "lost" those games more than UVA beating them. UVA could very easily be 4-6 vs 8-2. Ill be the one to say it....I don't think they're good. They've played no one and those they've beat were either bad or average teams or didn't execute well enough to win. Of course, will also say....we're not good either! ** Edited by apbaker73 at 11/9/2025, 8:37:06 AM

Another 4 year contract on a "flyer"?

No thanks. Id actually like VT to be competitive and significant again.

I think he would be the best coach we've had since Beamer for sure.

I just don't see any uber marquee coaches coming here. They will play the carousel in the SEC and other leagues. Franklin has a foothold on recruiting near VA and I think that is a huge plus as well. If we hold out for a "perfect" coach, we're not going to get it, and we'll settle for something much less. I personally don't want average, don't want a mid major coach, no more up and comers, and absolutely someone who has been a head coach before and has had success.

You lost me the 23rd time you said intrinsic.

We beat a ho hum Cal team. To go along with beating the doormat NC St and the gimme win of Wofford. Whew, those are three wins that simply scream we are on the upswing and have turned the corner. Intrinsically, we still suck.

They're not going to beat GT if they play in ACC title game.

And, if they do....guaranteed first round loss. There will be NO "lucky" championship.
